A $500 million automotive services company
Objective
Bell Oaks was retained by an automotive services company based in the Midwest to find a Vice President of Business Development. This was a newly created role that was tasked with reorganizing the entire sales function for the company, creating and implementing a new forward-looking strategy, and helping the company develop a five-year plan for revenue growth and next generation products. The client had no previous experience with an executive search firm for senior level positions.
Process
Our team met with and interviewed a comprehensive list of key players from the client company. Through this process, we were best able to acquire a clear understanding of the characteristics needed in a candidate to excel in this position and the company culture. Then we developed a precise job profile. After an exhaustive and focused search, we contacted more than 30 candidates, interviewed the most qualified of those, and presented the top three to the client within one month.
Results
We focused our recruiting on geographically proximate areas to where the job was located, and found one outstanding candidate who lived within 15 miles. That candidate ultimately won the job and within a year was promoted to a more senior level position within the company due to his outstanding performance. In addition to securing a superior employee, our search process saved the client more than $30,000 in relocations costs.
